Lou Dofsman began working for Columbia Broadcasting System also known as CBS in 1946 as an art director for its radio networks. Columbia Broadcasting System already had a notable network that was at the top of the ratings. One of Louis’s most notable works is his ad for “Of Black America,” the first network series on black history. This full page advertisement depicted a black man in black and white, with his face painted with the stars and stripes of the United States flag.

Creative Food Art

Creative Food Art!

This art is made completely out of food. It’s great to see how artist think outside of the box and use different types of foods to create animals and landscapes. One of my favorite pieces of art is the Watermelon Art. This piece is the bust of a woman made completely out of watermelon. The great use of the outer skin to represent hair that frames the face and oranges that represent earrings give the piece an authentic look. The eyes look great even though the piece is made out of watermelon it still looks really great. The next piece that I think looked really great was the piece with the geese. Rice is used to represent a blue ski. The creator used mushrooms for the bodies of the geese and the wings.

The Purrfect Gripper

I love the PurrFect Opener. Although I does seem silly it is important for one to remember that many older people loose feeling in the tips of their fingers. This makes it hard for them to grasp small things or open jars and bottles. It is always a struggle for the elderly to keep their independence so every little thing helps. The PurrFect Opener helps to open cans and bottles, open medication packaging and bottles. The great thing about this product is that its small and it can perform a variety of simple tasks and it only coasts five dollars.

New Soap, Old Bottle

With everyone going "green" this seems to be a good idea. How ever the one question I want to ask is...Why not do this your self. These "used bottle contain new soaps. This is really great for the environment and reuses plastic and glass bottles. I think this might turn some people off but at the same time if you dont want to buy this project you can do it your self! You can save your old bottles and use them for you soaps and other cleaners. This way you will re use something YOU used. Now these products are cheap going $4 a bottle. So maybe everyone should give it a try?

Prickly Chairs

V
alentina Gonzalz's prickly pair chairs will be shown in Milan next week. The design features two chairs of lime green and hot pink colors. They are so cute that you almost want to sit down and take a rest. Wait you might not want to do that! Each chair has hairs from the Nopal cactus. At first the one might think what is the reason. The Nopal cactus symbolizes Mexican heritage and national pride. The chair has a blend of not only material but culture!

The Folding phone

The folding phone is something that EVERYONE needs . I drop my phone so many times and this is the answer for me. The phone has shape memory that allows the keys to appear on the suface only when needed. The phone is still only in its early design stages. Today everyone has a phone, they are always looking for the New phone. This phone will change cellphones forever!

The Red bathRoOM

This tiny bathroom has a New York City feeling. The red tiled walls almost look like a subway station?! I really don't like this bathroom but is different. I do like the shower. The shelves look messy. I think I do see where the owner was trying to go with this .... but they didn't reach it.

Tweenbots

Tweenbots are a project started by Kacie Kinzer are tiny robots made from cardboard. The Tweenbot is only 10 inch tall and is so cute with its black sharpie smile. Each robot has a tiny flag that reads "help me". As the robots can only go in a strait line they need the help of those walking by to guide them in the right direction. I think this is a really great idea. The robot it so tiny and cute; how could you not love it?

Brush and Rinse

The Brush and Rinse is a really great idea. It not only saves your time. You dont have to use 900 little cups to rinse while brushing. The Brush and Rinse is a Scott Amron design. It's only about $3.

Shelves for life

William Warren Shelves for life is a coffin that can be taken apart can be turned into shelves. The coffin is made of oak veneered plywood. The shelves can be used throughout life and rebuilt into a coffin( one needed) I really don’t like this idea. It almost seems like it should be some kind of sick joke! The idea behind the Shelves for life is to make stronger emotional relationships with our belongings and encourage life-long use. The only think I like about this is the simplicity.

Japanese space- Saving kitchen

This great appliance can make a full meal! I think this is a great idea even though it looks kinda funny. Its great for a small kitchen. The writer explains that Japanese kitchens are small and they  cook in small kitchens. I think it would be cool to have a dish washer and oven in one!
