Modern Fixtures

Housing Fixture Series for Daelim House Bussiness

SDesignUnit designed a series of light switches, thermostats and outlets called the housing fixture series. All of the fixtures are simple and easy on the eyes. They also have the same over all look and shape so one could be placed next to the other and it would look as though they belong together. I think this is a great idea for a small home or a home that has a modern look.

Invisible Bicycles

Very funny pictures of celebrities on bikes. However the bicycles are photoshoped out.  Some of them are really funny to look at. I found this on holytaco.com

High ski dump

The most exciting bathroom one has ever seen! Georgia Max Coffee( A Japanese drink company) came up with the crazy idea of changing the bathrooms of ski areas around Japan to resemble a high ski jump. This is crazy!

The Stylish Cocoon

Have you ever found your self in the middle of the woods and wished that you could take a short nap? Have you ever climbed to the top of mountain took a look around and thought to your self “I wish I could take a short slumber?” Well if you did then the vessel is for you! This stylish jacket can quickly be transformed into a tent like cocoon. By simply tying the arms around a tree and pulling out the lining one could climb inside. This is a great idea for people that spend a lot of time out doors. One can easily interchange between jacket, backpack and tent.

60bags!!

60bags are a great way to save the environment! The biodegradable carrier bags are made of Flax fiber. The 60bags naturally decompose about 60 days after they are thrown away. (a great play on words)This is great because it will not have to be recycled and it will not sit in a landfill. The bags come in several shapes and sizes. This product was made with the hope that retailers would stop using their non-environmental friendly plastic bags. The bags can be ordered in different designs and material thickness.

The Historic feel

An “unnamed’ individual purchased enough land in a Washington, D.C area to build two homes. However when the surrounding neighbors found out they protested stating that they wanted to preserve the historic feel of the area. When this happened the unnamed individual was unable to obtain zoning for the two houses.

The home is located in the DC area of Georgetown and is amazingly only 12 feet wide. To add to the odd shaped characteristics of the building it is as tall as the city laws would allow. Although it is surrounded by historic homes the tall narrow home is very modern and looks like it belongs in the middle of a down town swanky city rather then a small neighborhood. The home is now on the market for 1.125 million

I often find myself thinking about the new additions to the surrounding areas of my hometown. I do understand that the previous homeowners would not want to tamper with the feel of their historic neighborhood. Although I do find it distasteful that the home sticks out so much. I think that neighbors got what was coming to them.
